چکیده

Methods 10 patients with morphologically suspected cardiac myxomas on echocardiography and confirmed by post-operative histopathology were prospectively included. CMR was performed at 1.5 Tesla in all patients pre-operatively. Standard protocol for cardiac mass assessment included T1 mapping (pre and post contrast to calculate ECV) and T2 mapping. All data are reported as mean ± standard deviation.

Myocardial Tissue Characterization by Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is a well-established noninvasive imaging modality in clinical cardiology. Its unsurpassed accuracy in defining cardiac morphology and function and its ability to provide tissue characterization make it well suited for the study of patients with cardiac diseases. Late gadolinium enhancement was a major advancement in the development of tissue characteriz...

Rock mass structural characterization via short-range digital photogrammetry

Because of the important role of rock mass structural properties on its mechanical behavior, determining the qualitative and quantitative properties of has been a subject of intense research. In this regard, numerous techniques such as scanline surveying, cell mapping, and geologic structure mapping have been proposed. However, applying such field surveying techniques for rock mass properties i...

Non-invasive measurement of myocardial extracellular volume using T1 mapping as a novel biomarker of diffuse fibrosis in dilated cardiomyopathy

Background Diffuse myocardial fibrosis is frequently observed in histologies of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). T1-mapping techniques have the potential to measure fibrosis quantitatively and therefore provide novel cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) insights into myocardial tissue characterization beyond the presently employed late gadolinium enhanced (LGE) techniques. Fibrosis results in expansio...

Tissue Characterization : Clinical Needs Cardiac

Take-home messages: • A broad range of cardiovascular conditions affect the myocardium. • The presence and extent to which the myocardium is affected can be estimated with magnetic resonance-based tissue characterization techniques. • The extent to which these techniques have been validated varies; the certainty with which a cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-based tissue characteristic is assign...

In-vivo quantitative T2 mapping of carotid arteries in atherosclerotic patients: segmentation and T2 measurement of plaque components

BACKGROUND Atherosclerotic plaques in carotid arteries can be characterized in-vivo by multicontrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), which has been thoroughly validated with histology. However, the non-quantitative nature of multicontrast CMR and the need for extensive post-acquisition interpretation limit the widespread clinical application of in-vivo CMR plaque characterization. Quan...
